New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Amid the rising cases of coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada, the Karnataka government has decided to impose a complete lockdown in the pandemic-hit district from July 16 for one week. Kota Srinivas Poojary, district in-charge minister in Karnataka said that the deputy commissioner will soon issue the norms of lockdown.

"We have decided to impose complete lockdown in Dakshina Kannada district from 16th July for one week. Lockdown norms will be issued soon by Deputy Commissioner," news agency ANI quoted Poojary as saying.

Earlier last month, Karnataka had announced a total lockdown on Sundays in view of the coronavirus pandemic. The lockdown came into effect from July 5 and will continue till further orders.

The southern state has already been observing a night curfew from 8 pm to 5 am.
