Kanpur Senior Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar on Monday said that three month UP cops -- two sub-inspectors and a constable -- have been suspended over charges of spying for gangster Vikas Dubey, who killed 8 policemen when they went to arrest him.

The three policemen are accused of informing Dubey about the police raid on Friday morning. The Kanpur SSP said that the case will also be filed against them in connection with the killings of cops.

Earlier, Station In-Charge of the Chaubepur police station Vinay Tiwari was suspended on similar charges. Besides them, the Uttar Pradesh Police is also investigating nearly 30 policemen for their alleged links with the notorious criminal.

On Friday, eight policemen, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police, were killed when they went into a village in Kanpur in the early hours of Friday to arrest Dubey but instead walked into a trap set by the notorious gangster, who is wanted in over 60 criminal cases.

Ever since, Dubey is absconding and police have created several teams to nab him. A bounty of Rs 2.5 lakh has also been announced for anyone who gave information about Dubey's whereabouts. Posters of Dubey have been put up in many areas including Kanpur, Kanpur Dehat, Unnao and adjoining districts, and also at a check-post near the India-Nepal border.
