Kanpur Ambush: CO Devendra Mishra was shot at point blank range by Vikas Dubey's man, reveals autopsy
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Kanpur Circle Officer Devendra Mishra was shot at point blank range four times by Vikas Dubey's men during an ambush on a police team that went to arrest the notorious gangster from his native Bikru village, the post-mortem report revealed, according to news agency ANI. The autopsy report has also revealed that Dubey and his men used sharp weapons and guns to kill cops during the Kanpur ambush.
Eight policemen, including Circle Officer Devendra Mishra, were brutally killed by Vikas Dubey and his men earlier this month when they went to arrest him. Dubey fled from the spot but nabbed by police after 4 days from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh. While being shifted to Kanpur, Dubey allegedly tried to escape and shot dead by police.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Prashant Kumar, UP ADG Law and Order said that after killing the policemen, Dubey and his men also looted their arms and ammunition, which was later recovered from his Bikru village residence during police raids.
"After killing the 8 policemen on July 3 at Bikru village, the accused had also looted the arms of our policemen. Vikas Dubey had asked his gang members to hide the looted arms and ammunition at his residence at Bikru village. During search at Vikas Dubey's residence, we recovered the looted arms," the UP ADG, law and order said.
21 accused, 4 arrested, 6 killed
Kumar said that there were 21 accused in the Kanpur ambush case and four of them have been arrested while another six, including gangster Dubey killed in police encounter. Shashikant, an accused in the case, has also been arrested. He is one of the four accused arrested till now, he said.
"There are total 21 accused in the case, of which 4 have been arrested while 6 accused, inclduing Vikas Dubey, killed during police proceedings in different incidents," the ADG said.
