‘Jesus Christ epitomised spirit of service and compassion’: PM Modi extends wishes on the occasion of Christmas
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: As the world celebrates Christmas today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended his greetings and warm wishes to the people around the world on the occasion.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his wish for the people praised the Christian Lord for his noble thoughts towards the human race. PM Modi also remembered him for his service and compassion towards alleviating the human sufferings, by sacrificing his own life.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to shower praise on Jesus and wish the people all around the world. PM Modi in his greeting tweet wrote, “Merry Christmas! We remember, with immense joy, the noble thoughts of Jesus Christ. He epitomised spirit of service and compassion, devoting his life towards alleviating human suffering. His teachings inspire millions across the world”.

Besides PM Modi, Satya Pal Malik, the newly appointed Governor of Goa, where 27 per cent of the population of the state is Catholic, also extended his heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people in Goa and across the World, on the occasion of Christmas.
Satya Pal Malik showered praise on Jesus and remembered him for the eternal message of peace the Christian Lord gave to the people. He also emphasised on the teachings of this festival and said that Christmas teaches the importance of caring and sharing with family and friends.
In his greetings Satya Pal Malik said, "On this day, we celebrate the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, who gave us the eternal message of peace, tolerance, sacrifice, love and brotherhood. Christmas also reminds us of the importance of giving and sharing with friends and family,"
He said Christmas unites the people of all faiths. "It is a festival which people from all religions and faiths celebrate worldwide irrespective of caste and creed. It is the essence of this festival which unites all the people”, Malik added.
“On this occasion, let us re-dedicate ourselves to put into practice the great message of Lord Jesus Christ to live in peace, strengthening bonds, and work together for the prosperity and glory of our society," the governor said.
Christmas is a major festival in the coastal state, where Christians comprise nearly 27 per cent of the population. The state had been getting ready for the festivities since the last fortnight with markets selling accessories required to decorate homes. As part of the celebrations, cribs depicting the birth of Lord Jesus were set up at homes by the faithful.
Markets in Panaji, Margao, Mapusa, Vasco besides other places were packed with shoppers doing last-minute buying for the festival, which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.
