J-K: CRPF soldier, child killed in terrorist attack in Anantnag's Bijbehara
Jammu | Jagran News Desk: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier and a child were killed after terrorists attacked the security forces deployed at a highway security point at Anantnag's Bijbehara in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, said the officials.
In a statement, the security forces said that the terrorists came on motorcycle at around 12.10 pm and attacked the road opening party of 90 Batallion CRPF which was deployed for the highway security near the Padshahi Bagh bridge in Bijbehara area of the district.
The officials said that a CRPF soldier and a four-year-old boy were injured in the attack who were hospitalised at a hospital in Bijbehara where they succumbed to their injuries.
The area has been cordoned off and a search operation has been launched to grab the terrorists responsible for the cowardly attack, the officials noted.
The cowardly attack comes at a time when the security forces have launched an operation against the terrorists in the Valley. On Friday, the security forces also said that two terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter in the Pulwama district.
The security forces said that two AK-47 rifles and ammunition were recovered from the site of the encounter, adding that the operation is underway.
The officials said that they had launched a cordon and search operation on Thursday in Chewa Ular area of Tral in south Kashmir district after they recieved information some of the militants arehiding in the region.
The search operation turned into an encounter after the militants opened fire at a search party of the forces, who retaliated, the officials said while adding that the security forces maintained a tight cordon throughout the night to prevent the militants from escaping.
