New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: India on Tuesday crossed the 9 lakh-mark of coronavirus cases and reached 9,06,752 after 28,498 new infections were recorded in the country during the last 24 hours. The death toll also climbed up to 23,727 after 553 new fatalities related COVID-19 were recorded in the country in the same period of time.
India took only three days to cross the 9-lakh mark after crossing the 8-lakh mark on July 11. Of the total 9,06,752 cases, 3,11,565 are active cases while 5,71,460 people have been cured and discharged from the hospitals across the country. The recovery rate also improves to 63.02 per cent.
Among the Indian states, Maharashtra remains to be the worst-hit state. The state recorded 6,497 new cases of COVID-19, taking its tally to 2,60,924 on Monday, while 193 more patients succumbed to the infection taking the death toll in the state to 10,482.
Tamil Nadu's COVID-19 death toll crossed the grim milestone of 2,000 with 66 more fatalities while the tally inched towards 1.50 lakh with 4,328 fresh cases on Monday. If the current trend of a daily count of 4,000 plus cases continued, the infection count would breach the 1.50 lakh mark in the next couple of days.
