New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Indicating a downward trend in COVID-19 cases amid the second wave of the deadly virus, India's total active caseload reduced to 37,04,099 on Wednesday and now comprises 15.87 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the Union Health Ministry said today.

As per the data, a net decline of 11,122 cases is recorded in the active caseload in the last 24 hours. This is the second consecutive day of decline in the active cases. India's cumulative recoveries stand at 1,93,82,642 today. The National Recovery Rate is 83.04 per cent, said the ministry. It stated that 3,55,338 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.

Ten states including Maharashtra, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Haryana, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar account for 71.58 per cent of the new recoveries. Meanwhile, 3,48,421 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours in the country.

Ten states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana reported 71.22 per cent of the new cases in the country in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 40,956 followed by Karnataka with 39,510 and Kerala with 37,290 new cases.

It further informed that the National Mortality Rate currently stands at 1.09 per cent. 4,205 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. According to the ministry, ten states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Haryana and West Bengal account for 73.17 per cent of the new deaths in the country.

It further mentioned that the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded 17.52 Crore today as Phase-3 of the nationwide vaccination drive expands further.

The ministry stated that a total of 17,52,35,991 vaccine doses have been administered through 25,47,534 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today. These include 95,82,449 healthcare workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 65,39,376 HCWs who have taken the second dose, 1,41,49,634 FLWs (first dose), 79,52,537 FLWs (second dose), 30,44,463 beneficiaries under 18-45 age group (first dose), 5,58,83,416 (first dose) and 78,36,168 (second dose) beneficiaries aged 45 to 60 years; 5,39,59,772 first dose beneficiaries and 1,62,88,176 second dose beneficiaries of more than 60 years old.

Ten states including Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra account for 66.67 per cent of the cumulative doses given so far in the country, it said.

As per the ministry, 4,79,282 beneficiaries of the age group 18-44 years received their first dose of COVID vaccine in the last 24 hours and cumulatively 30,44,463 across 30 States/UTs since the start of phase-3 of vaccination drive. As of Day-116 of the vaccination drive (May 11, 2021), 24,46,674 vaccine doses were given and 10,92,452 beneficiaries were vaccinated for the first dose and 13,54,222 beneficiaries received their second dose across 18,543 sessions.
