Highest single-day spike of 13,586 cases take India's COVID-19 tally to 3.80 lakh; death toll at 12,573 | Check state-wise list here
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: In another record for the single-day spike, India recorded 13,586 new infections during the last 24 hours, taking the total toll of coronavirus cases in the country to 3,80,532. The death toll due to the deadly COVID-19 also rose to 12,573 after 336 new fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours from across the country, according to the data by Union Health Ministry on Friday.
Of the total 3,80,532 cases, 1,63,248 are active cases while 2,04,710 people have been cured of the deadly pathogen and discharged from the hospitals from across the country. With recoveries crossing the 2 lakh-mark, the recovery rate in the country also improved to 53.79 per cent.
Among the Indian states, Maharashtra tops the list of worst-hit states with cases crossing 1.20 lakh-mark, while the death toll in the state also stood at 5,751. Following Maharashtra, the southern state of Tamil Nadu is second worst-hit state with 52,334 cases of coroanvirus.The death toll in Tamil Nadu stood at 625.
Meanwhile, the current hotspot, Delhi is at number three on the list with cases nearing the grim milestone of 50,000-mark. The coronavirus cases in the national capital stood at 49,979, while the death toll in Delhi also reached 1,969 on Friday morning.
