New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: In a shocking incident, a Vadodara based realty developer threw his wife and two children out of the house on the fear of being infected by coronavirus, as his wife was looking after his ailing mother for weeks.

According to a report by the Times of India, the man asked his wife to return only after getting recovered. The man allegedly threw out his wife, aged 35 years, and two children aged five and six years as she developed a fever and respiratory problems. In the report, it is being alleged that the man and other family members asked her to leave the house on the suspicion of getting infected by the virus and also go to Ahmedabad for her treatment.

The woman had been frequently visiting her ailing mother-in-law who underwent cardiac surgery and was admitted to a hospital. The incident happened in May. The family suspected that she is infected with the virus as she used to visit her mother-in-law in the hospital to take care of her and following this, members of the family forced her to leave the house. The woman then resisted, to which the man reacted by thrashing her and pushing her and his two children out of his house.

After being thrown out, the woman was living at their Ahmedabad residence for over a month. The husband however then reached there and also raised an objection to her staying at this place on June 29.

The 35-year-old woman lodged an FIR in Anandnagar Police station of Ahmedabad against her husband who even threatened to divorce her and leave the children. The report also reveals that she has filed a domestic violence case against her husband subjecting to the cruelty towards her by her husband and in-laws.

The number of domestic violence cases against women, however, have increased multifold across the country during the lockdown.
