New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The fresh dates for competitive exams-- NEET and JEE Main would be announced on Tuesday, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) had informed on Sunday. The exams were earlier postponed due to lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The senior official from MHRD has said, "The fresh dates will be announced by HRD Minister Ramnaresh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' on May 5," as quoted by PTI. It will put an end to uncertainty for the aspirants. The minister will also interact with students on the same day.

In a tweet post, he said, "Students, I am hosting a webinar exclusively for you, via my Twitter(@DrRPNishank) & Facebook (@cmnishank) pages. Please join me on 5th May at 12 noon! Till then keep sharing your concerns with me using #EducationMinisterGoesLive. I will be happy to address all your queries !” 

The examination will be conducted when the situation gets back to normal after lockdown 3.0. Though the agency is yet to specify the dates, it is likely to be held during the last week of June. 

While the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main is conducted for enrollment in engineering colleges, While NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is conducted for admissions to medical colleges across the country.

The notification of exam dates will be notified on the official website by the National Testing Agency (NTA), once the announcement is made by the HRD minister. 

Along with the announcement of entrance exam dates of the above competitive exams, the board exam dates will also be finalised. This is because admission process in colleges will only take place once the result is declared. The CBSE has said that it will conduct the 29 main papers of the board exams as soon as possible. 

The Union Grants Commission has said that the academic calendar for session 2020-21 will begin in September.
