DMK MLA J Anbazhagan succumbs to COVID-19 in Chennai, Puducherry CM expresses grief
Chennai | Jagran News Desk: DMK MLA J Anbazhagan died of COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai on Wednesday after fighting the deadly virus for eight days.
Tragically, the DMK lawmaker passed away on June 10 - the day he turned 62 years old. He was admitted to Dr Rela Institute and Medical Centre at Chromepet on June 2.
“His condition deteriorated rapidly on Tuesday night. We could not bring him back,” a senior doctor was quoted by Times of India as saying.
"He was on ventilator. At one point, he required lesser oxygen, and we thought he was responding well. But he had too many comorbities," another doctor was quoted as saying.
Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasami expressed grief over his demise and said that his death was a great loss to DMK president MK Stalin.
"'My heartfelt condolences on the demise of Shri Anbalagan #DMK leader & Member of Legislative Assembly #TamilNadu . He was a strong leader of Dravidian movement pillar of DMK. His loss is great loss personally to DMK President Shri @mkstalin. May his soul rest in peace," he tweeted.
Anbazhagan represented the Chepauk constituency in Chennai in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
