Dhanbad Shocker: 6 people of same family succumb to coronavirus in a fortnight
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc across the globe and is still on a sharp rise in many countries including India. The deadly virus has so far afflicted over 11.50 lakh people in the country while over 28,000 people have been killed due to the COVID-19.
In a shocking incident reported from Dhanbad, Jharkhand, which has shocked the entire area, six members of the same family have succumbed to the deadly virus. The Chaudhary family of Katras area in Dhanbad has been witnessing the fury of the coronavirus from a fortnight when the eldest member of the family, an 88-year-old woman succumbed to the deadly virus.
The latest victim of the deadly virus is her fifth son who died on Sunday night in RIMS, Ranchi, after contracting the coronavirus from his mother -- the 88-year-old woman. Earlier during this month, four other people (all sons of the 88-year-old woman) have also succumbed to the deadly pathogen creating a wave of shock in the entire area.
The fifth son (latest victim) was earlier admitted to PMCH of Dhanbad but shifted to RIMS, Ranchi after his health deteriorated. Earlier, his brother also died in RIMS due to the virus.
At first, the 88-year-old woman succumbed to the virus at a nursing home in Bokaro. The family got to know about the positive coronavirus test results only after her funeral. Since then, five out of six sons of the woman have died due to the coronavirus.
The woman got infected after she attended a wedding of a relative on June 27, which proved fatal for the entire family. After returning from the ceremony, the woman got infected and died on July 4 during treatment. She was also cremated normally without any protocol, as her report only came after her funeral. Since then her 5 sons got infected and died one by one in last 16 days.
