New Delhi |Jagran News Desk: The Delhi Metro services will run as per schedule on August 15 or I- Day with no major changes, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) confirmed on Wednesday.

Select entry and exit games at four major stations of the Violet Line: Lal Quila, Delhi Gate, Jama Masjid and ITO will be closed owing to the Independence day celebration at Lal Quila.

“The entry/exit at four stations of Violet Line i.e, Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate and ITO will be permitted from select entry/exit gates during the ceremony time and some gates will remain closed at these stations owing to security considerations during this period,” said an official statement from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.

Additional ticket counters will open and more staffs will be deployed for guiding the additional rush at Jama Masjid and Lal Quila metro stations, the statement added.

Though the metro services will be open, parking at Metro stations will be closed from 6 am till 2pm on August 15.

Meanwhile, More CISF personnel will be deployed at several key metro stations for conducting security checks and passengers safety.

India will celebrate its 73rd Independence on August 15 (Thursday). Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will address the nation from Red Fort on this occasion.

Flag hoisting, parades and cultural events are held on this day across the nation.

The security is beefed up in the national capital ahead of Independence Day and in view of the Centre revoking Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
