Mumbai | Jagran News Desk: Mumbai Crime Branch's Anti Extortion Cell (AEC) arrested Dawood Ibrahim's younger brother Iqbal Kaskar's son Rizwan on Wednesday night, according to reports. Rizwan is currently in police custody.
Rizwan was arrested last night at Mumbai airport while he was allegedly trying to leave the country. AEC had earlier arrested Ahmad Raza Wadaria, a close aide of Chhota Shakeel, who is also a wanted accused in the case. Rizwan has reportedly links with Ahmed Raza.
According to police sources, Ahmed Raza is very close to Chhota Shakeel and Fahim Muchmuch, and he allegedly used to handle their hawala business in Mumbai, Thane, and Surat in Gujrat.
Two other people were also arrested by the Mumbai Police Anti-Extortion Cell, last night, along with Rizwan (son of Dawood Ibrahim's brother, Iqbal Kaskar).
Rizwan along with the other two accused was brought to the office of Mumbai Police Anti-Extortion Cell. All three accused will be produced before the court, later today.
In April this year, a flat of Dawood Ibrahim's sister Haseena Parkar, located at Nagpada in upscale South Mumbai, was auctioned for Rs 1.80 crore. The flat was sold after Haseena Parkar's relatives failed to prove that the property was bought from money acquired through legal sources.
Haseena Parkar was married to one Ismail Parkar, who was killed allegedly by gangsters owing allegiance to Arun Gawli, a rival of Dawood.
After his murder, Haseena Parkar got associated with the organized crime syndicate left behind by her brother, a designated global terrorist believed to be currently residing in Pakistan.
Earlier this month, Pakistan's Foreign Office said "Dawood Ibrahim is not in Pakistan", a day after a UK court was informed that the underworld don wanted for the deadly coordinated bombings in Mumbai in 1993 is currently in exile in the country.
Dawood, who heads a vast and multifaceted illegal business, has emerged as India's most wanted terrorist after the 1993 Mumbai bombings.
According to the US, Dawood maintains close links with terror outfit al-Qaeda. As a result, the US declared him a "global terrorist" and pursued the matter before the United Nations in an attempt to freeze his assets across the world and crackdown on his operations.
