Coronavirus News: Delhi-Ghaziabad border sealed; cases rise in UP, Bihar and Odisha | Highlights
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The number of coronavirus cases has been increasing at a huge rate in India in the last few days. According to the Union Health Ministry, number of COVID-19 cases in India has surged to 1,38,845 while death toll stands at 4,021. Of the total number of cases, 57721 have recovered from the infection. Maharashtra is the worst affected state with over 50,000 cases.
India on Monday resumed its domestic flight services after two months of suspension due to coronavirus-induced lockdown. But, the services will not be available in West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. The international flights will also be allowed by August or September, as per DGCA.
Meanwhile, it is also conducting a massive massive repatriation program under phase II of Vande Bharat Mission to bring stranded Indians from abroad.
Shramik special trains are running to carry migrants to their home states and Indian Railways has also resumed some special trains. It will add 200 more trains from June 1.

4:52 pm: A bus carrying migrant labourers to West Bengal met with an accident in Sikidiri Ghati. Several injuries feared. Police operation is underway. 20 people have been shifted to RIMS hospital so far: Saurabh, SP Ranchi Rural
4:38 pm: I have always followed social distancing, lockdown norms. MHA permitted the opening of stadiums without spectators. Based on that, I went there and played. All norms were followed: Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari on allegations of violating govt rules of #COVID19 lockdown.
4:10 pm: Delhi-Ghaziabad border to be sealed like it was done during lockdown 2, till further orders: Ghaziabad Dist Admn Those providing essential services, including media personnel, don't need pass, IDs sufficient. Ambulances and vehicles for essential services will also be allowed.
3:53 pm: The regulations under Section 144 of CrPC, imposed in Hamirpur district, are extended to 30th June 2020: Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) Deputy Commissioner, Harikesh Meena.
3:40 pm: 273 new positive cases have been reported in last 24 hours. Number of active cases of #COVID19 rise to 2606 in Uttar Pradesh. 3581 people have been discharged from the disease while 165 deaths have been reported till date: State Principal Health Secretary Amit Mohan Prasad
3:05 pm: 15 #COVID19 positive cases detected in Uttarakhand today. The total number of positive cases in the state rises to 332, including 58 recovered and 4 deaths: Uttarakhand State Control Room COVID-19
2:28 pm: 145 new #COVID19 positive cases reported today; the total number of positive cases in the state now stands at 7173. Death toll stands at 163. There are 3150 active cases in the state now: Rajasthan Health Department
2:08 pm: Kerala: 103 people, including 4 infants & pregnant women each, reach Kochi from San Francisco, United States in a special flight under #VandeBharatMission.
1:50 pm: Delhi: Drivers of autos and e-rickshaws in the national capital are grappling to meet expenses amid #COVID lockdown. An e-rickshaw driver says, "The work is less, as well as there are not many passengers. Moreover, passenger limit prohibits us to generate profit in business".
1:35 pm: Odisha: People in large numbers seen outside a liquor shop in Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar. Liquor is being sold at the shop, even after Odisha Govt ordered that no excise licensees are allowed to sell liquor on premises, amid lockdown; only home delivery of liquor is allowed.
1:25 pm: #VandeBharatMission: A special flight with 146 passengers onboard that took off from Doha, Qatar landed at Gaya Airport, Bihar today.
1:12 pm: Karnataka: A 'Shramik Special' train with 1532 passengers on board leaves Hubli for Darbhanga in Bihar.
1:08 pm: Total number of positive #COVID19 cases in the state rises to 209 including 142 active cases, 59 recovered cases and 4 deaths: Himachal Pradesh Health Department
1:07 pm: Total number of positive cases of #COVID19 in Jharkhand rises to 378, of which 148 patients have recovered. There are 226 active cases in the state now: Jharkhand Health Department
1:05 pm: Two more cases of #COVID19 were reported in Manipur last night, taking the total number of cases to 34 out of which 30 cases are active: Manipur Govt
1 pm: The situation is under control in Delhi though I admit that COVID-19 cases are increasing slowly. Most of the cases have mild symptoms or are asymptomatic and being treated at home: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal
12:50 pm: COVID-19 cases have increased in Delhi due to relaxations in lockdown. But there is nothing to worry about unless the mortality rate or the number of serious cases rises rapidly. If people contract the virus & recover, then there is nothing to worry about:Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

12:40 pm: We have issued a show-cause notice to a private hospital that denied treatment to a patient who tested positive for COVID19. It is the hospital's duty in such a case to provide an ambulance to the patient & take them to a COVID hospital: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal
12:30 pm: In the last 24 hours, 51 police personnel have tested positive for #COVID19. The total number of positive cases in Maharashtra Police is now 1809, including 1113 active cases, 678 recovered cases and 18 deaths: Maharashtra Police
12:15 pm: On Maharashtra Govt's request, Railways has run 557 Shramik Special trains carrying over 7.70 lakh people so far. Railways' nodal officer&nodal officer of Maharashtra Govt are in constant touch for planning the trains:Shivaji Sutar, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway
11:35 am: Number of #COVID19 cases rises to 2671 in Andhra Pradesh, with 44 fresh cases being recorded in the last 24 hours. Active cases and deaths stand at 767 and 56, respectively: Andhra Pradesh Health Department
11:25 am: Eight flights are arriving at Guwahati airport today, with some of them landing with full passenger capacities. All passengers will be scanned for #COVID19 at the Airport. People from Assam will be segregated & send to their respective district by buses: Assam Minister HB Sarma

10:20 am: Karnataka: People in Hubli offer #EidUlFitr prayers at their residence, due to COVID19 lockdown. All mosques remain closed in view of the lockdown.
10:10 am: 9 new positive cases reported today, taking the total number of positive cases in the union territory to 265: Government of UT of Chandigarh
10 am: Bihar reports 180 new cases of COVID-19 from 15 districts, pushing the tally to 2,574 in the state: health department.

8:34 am: Delhi: Passengers onboard Delhi-Bhubaneswar Vistara flight were seen wearing face shields as a precautionary measure against COVDI19. BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty on board the flight said "I was in Delhi since the Parliament's Budget session. Now, I am returning to my state Odisha".

8 am: The first flight from Delhi's IGI airport since resumption of domestic flight operations, lands at Pune. A passenger who has arrived in the city by the flight says,"I was nervous before the flight but all passengers were taking precautions. Very few people travelling right now".
7:51 am: Passengers arrive at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport as domestic flight operations resume.
7:50 am: US coronavirus death toll rises by 638, bringing total number of lives lost to 97686, as per Johns Hopkins University: AFP news agency
