New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The number of coronavirus cases in India has crossed the 3.20 lakh-mark while the death toll has crossed 9,000-mark, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare while adding that the recovery rate in the country stands at 50.59 per cent as more than 1.62 lakh people have been cured and discharged from hospitals.

Amid the alarming spike in the number of COVID-19 cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday reviewed the situation in the country discussed augmenting of COVID-19 testing as well as the number of beds and services required to effectively handle the rising number of daily cases, particularly in large cities.

The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that PM Modi directed the officials to undertake an "emergency planning" in consultation with states and union territories in view of a government-appointed expert panel's recommendations on city and district-wise requirement of hospital and isolation beds going ahead.
