Coronavirus News: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain's condition improves, likely to be shifted to general ward tomorrow
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The condition of the Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who was administered plasma therapy on Sunday to recover from the highly contagious coronavirus, has improved and will likely be shifted to the general ward on Monday.
In a statement, his office said that the fever of the 55-year-old Delhi Health Minister has subsided and his oxygen level has improved.
"The health condition of Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain has improved after being administered plasma therapy. His fever has subsided and oxygen level has improved. Doctors say that he can be shifted to the general ward by tomorrow," the Office of Delhi Health Minister said.
Jain had tested positive for positive for the novel coronavirus on June 17 and was shifted to Saket's Max Hospital, where he was administered Plasma therapy on Sunday, after his condition worsened on June 19. Following that, Jain was put on oxygen support after his lung infection increased.
Jain was admitted to a hospital in northeast Delhi on June 15 after he complained of breathlessness and high fever. "We have put him fully on oxygen support as his Spo2 level had fallen to 89 at one point, normal level is about 95. Also, he has been diagnosed with pneumonia," news agency PTI had quoted an official as saying.
"We are also exploring if he can be shifted to a bigger, private facility, just in case his condition doesn't improve," the official had further said.
The deadly coronavirus has been surging at an alarming rate in Delhi. The novel infection has affected more than 56,000 people and claimed the lives of over 2,100 in the national capital so far, said the Ministry of Health and Family while adding that more than 31,000 people have been cured and discharged from hospitals in the city-state.
Several politicans have also tested positive for coronavirus in Delhi. Recently, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Atishi Marlena and Akshay Marathe had tested positve for COVID-19. Before that, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had also taken a test for coronavirus after he showed symptoms of the deadly virus.
