New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The number of COVID-19 cases in West Bengal has increased in the last few days. According to the latest data by the Union Health Ministry, the total number of cases has reached 2,5825 with 244 deaths. A total of 1,006 patients have been cured and 88,806 are under surveillance. Sixty-seven COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospital following their recovery since Saturday, according to the health bulletin.

Six more fatalities and 101 new COVID-19 cases were recorded on Monday. All these deaths were reported in the state capital Kolkata, which has so far reported 1,372 cases and 165 deaths. 

Based on the number of cases and by taking several factors into consideration such as incidence of cases, doubling rate, extent of testing, and surveillance feedback, the districts are designated as red, orange and green zones.

According to, West Bengal has 10 red, 5 orange, and 8 green districts.

A district will be considered under green zone, if there are no confirmed cases so far or there is no reported case since last 21 days in the district.

Currently, there are 7 private laboratories and 11 government laboratories to test for Real-Time PCR (RT PCR) tests. There are 67 government and private facilities and 582 quarantine facility.
