New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The number of coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu is increasing at an alarming rate in Tamil Nadu. According to the latest data by the Union Health Ministry, the state has 11,760 cases of COVID-19 including 81 deaths and 4,406 cured patients. The state capital Chennai has reported 7,117 cases and 56 fatalities. 

The state has shut schools, colleges, and other research institutions until further orders. Also, the places of worship and where people converge in a large number are closed, as per the latest order by the government.

Gyms, beaches, parks, swimming pools, sports centres and other halls are also to remain closed during the lockdown period. During the lockdown, all marriage functions will remain prohibited.

The public transport, rail, flight, bus and inter-state and local rail services will remain closed. But, the operation of train ad flight services will be allowed after obtaining permission from state and central government.

According to covidindia.org, there 12 red zones, 24 orange zones and one green zone in Tamil Nadu.

The red zones are areas where the highest number of COVID-19 cases are found. These areas should not report cases for consecutive 21 days to be declared green zones.

Red zones:

Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Madurai, Namakkal, Ranipet, Tirupur, Thanjvur, Tiruvallur, Tiruvarur.

Orange zones

Viluppuram, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruppattur, Thoothukuddi, Tirunelveli, Theni, Tiruchirapalli, Tenkasi, Sivaganga, Salem South, Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Perambur, Nilgris, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Karur, Kanniyakumari

Green zone

Krishnagiri

Currently, there are 20 private laboratories and 40 government laboratories approved to test Real-Time PCR tests and 3 private laboratories to test CBNAAT testing for COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu. The government has 20 government and private facilities, 3371 ventilators and 29,074 isolation wards.
