After remaining shut for over four months, metro services across India have reopened as the Centre has issued the guidelines for Unlock 4.0. In this phase of unlocking, schools, colleges and other educational and coaching institutions will remain closed in India till September 30. However, students of classes 9 to 12 will be permitted to visit their schools in areas outside the containment zones only voluntarily for taking guidance from their teachers.
The Centre has also allowed political, social and religious congregations of up to 100 people from September 21, noting that states will not be able to impose any local lockdown outside the containment zones without its prior consultation.
Domestic and international (under the Vande Bharat mission) flights and passenger trains, already operational in a limited manner, will be further expanded in a calibrated manner, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines.
Meanwhile, the central government has urged people to be cautious, asking everyone to practice social distancing. It has further said that the country will get its first vaccine against the deadly COVID-19 infection by 2021 first quarter.
