In wake of the alarming spike in the number of coronavirus cases in the country, the government has extended the lockdown till May 17, with considerable relaxation. As per the latest guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Centre has provided relaxations after categorising districts in ‘red’, ‘orange’ and ‘green’ zones.
As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there are 130 red, 284 orange and 319 green coronavirus districts in India.
The Indian Railways has also ‘partially’ resumed its passenger train services from May 12. As per the railways, the passengers will be able to book their tickets at the official IRCTC website. However, the passengers will not be able to book tickets at ticket counters in railway stations as they will remain closed.
Meanwhile, there has been no confirmation from the government on further extension of lockdown which was imposed on March 25 and further extended on April 14 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to break the chain of transmission of the dreadful coronavirus.
So far the COVID-19 virus has affected over 67,000 and claimed the lives of more than 2,200 people in India.
