New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: In a shocking news for the Delhi cabinet, the Health Minister of Delhi, Satyendar Jain, on Wednesday tested positive for the coronavirus after he undergone a second test today post further worsening of his health conditions.

Satyendar Jain was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital after he complained of high fever and difficulty in breathing on Monday. However, his reports for coronavirus turned out to be negative, but the health minister's health was not getting better. He had undergone another test today as he continued to face breathing problems.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the 55-year-old Aam Aadmi Party leader, who attended a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said, "Due to high grade fever and a sudden drop of my oxygen levels last night I have been admitted to RGSSH. Will keep everyone updated".

Earlier in the day Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from the Kalkaji constituency, Atishi Marlena, had also tested positive for the coronavirus. Along with Atishi, AAP’s spokesperson Akshay Marathe had also tested positive for the deadly virus.

Atishi complained of mild fever and cough on Tuesday, after which she had undergone a test, the reports of which came positive today. She has now quarantined herself in her home given her mild symptoms.

With her reports coming positive, Atishi has become the third MLA of Aam Aadmi Party who have tested positive for the highly contagious pathogen. Earlier, AAP MLA from Karol Bagh, Vishesh Ravi and Patel Nagar MLA Rajkumar Anand had tested positive for the COVID-19.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to praise her during this crisis and also wished her a speedy recovery. "Atishi ji has played an important role in the fight against corona. I hope that she will get healthy soon and again get involved in serving the people," Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj, who is the MLA from Delhi's Greater Kailash area, also tweeted this afternoon, and wrote, "Get well soon Atishi and Akshay Marathe (an AAP member who has also tested positive for COVID-19), recover soon from corona".

Atishi had been continuously associated with the Delhi government’s health department to assess the situation in the national capital and to contain the further spread of the virus. The deadly virus has afflicted more than 44,000 people in the capital, while 1,837 people have succumbed to the coronavirus so far.

Last week the Chief Minister also tested negative for the COVID-19 virus after a fever and throat pain. He had isolated himself at his official residence in the city as a precautionary measure.
