Coronavirus Impact: Man from UP's virus free region commits suicide as he was missing his wife
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: A 32 years old man allegedly committed suicide in Eastern Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district, as he was missing his wife who had gone to visit her parents, and couldn’t move back with her husband as the nation wide lockdown was imposed on March 24 – in a bid to curb the spread of novel Coronavirus pandemic.
The incident took place in Radha Kund locality in Gonda on Wednesday, Police said, adding the deceased has been identified as Rakesh Soni, 32.
As per information, Soni's wife had gone to her parents' place and was stuck there due to the lockdown and he was missing her due to which he committed suicide, Inspector Alok Rao said. “A probe is on in the mater,” Inspector Rao said.
The state of Uttar Pradesh so-far has reported 330 coronavirus cases and 30 fatalities in total. However, Gonda is one of those districts in Uttar Pradesh, which has not reported any COVID-19 positive case so far.
Many districts in eastern Uttar Pradesh region have so-far been free of COVID-19 so far. Out of Poorvanchal's twenty districts, eleven districts have not recorded any coronavirus cases so far – with region’s total COVID-19 patient number standing at the figure of 40 patients at present.
Among Gonda's surrounding districts – Bahraich, Barabanki, Balrampur, Shravasti, Faizabad and Basti – only Barabanki has recorded a case of coronavirus, rest of the districts, so far have, none to their record.
In India, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases have surged to 5,865 and the death toll has climbed to 169, with a spike of 591 new cases and 20 fatalities in last 24 hours.
