New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Amid the surging number of coronavirus cases in the country, the district officials in Noida has informed that the number of containment zones in Gautam Budh Nagar has increased to 164.

Launching an online portal for the district’s residents to report grievances related to containment zones, sanitisation and other health issues, the officials said that the highly contagious infection has affected 543 people in Gautam Budh Nagar, adding that 27 more cases were reported on Friday.

The officials also said that the number of active cases in the district has jumped to 209, even as five patients got discharged after recovery from the dreadful infection.

According to the data provided by the Uttar Pradesh Health and Family Department, Gautam Buddh Nagar, adjoining Delhi, has so far recorded eights deaths due to the novel coronavirus, while it has second-highest number of positive cases after Agra.

"On Friday, 22 people have been found positive for COVID-19 and total positive cases till date stand at 570. Five patients were discharged after treatment from the Sharda Hospital and a total 348 patients have recovered so far. There are 209 active cases now," District Surveillance Officer Sunil Dohare said, as reported by news agency PTI.

The state officials said that among the new patients, five are senior citizens aged 60, 61, 73, 76 and 80, adding that the recovery rate of patients in Gautam Budh Nagar is now 61.92 per cent.
