Srinagar | Jagran News Desk: Ahead of the Independence Day, Jammu and Kashmir Additional Director General of Police Munir Khan has said that ‘everything is in place’ and asked the people of the state to celebrate 15th August ‘dabake’.

"Celebrate 15th August, dabake (grandly)," said Khan when asked what his message for Kashmiris was.

Khan addressed a press conference on the preparedness of the state for August 15 celebrations and said the restrictions had been lifted in Jammu but it would take some time for the situation to normalise in Kashmir.

The situation in Jammu and Kashmir is totally under control and there have been no major injuries to anyone, Khan said.

“Restrictions imposed in Jammu have been completely removed. They will continue in some places of Kashmir for sometime,” he said.

He also said that the police’s main focus is on August 15.

“At present, our main focus is August 15. All arrangements are in place to ensure peaceful celebrations across the state,” he added.

The statement comes after the authorities on Tuesday said that the restrictions in the Valley were being removed in a phased manner.

“The restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir are being eased out in a phased manner in the Valley and the situation in the Jammu division has been restored after assessment by relevant local authorities,” the MHA tweeted on Tuesday.

Restrictions were imposed in Jammu and Kashmir after the Centre scrapped special status of the state and bifurcated it into two Union Territories -- Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh on August 5.
