CBI questions CM Ashok Gehlot's OSD, Congress MLA Krishna Poonia in SHO suicide case
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Amid the political crisis in the state, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's OSD Deva Ram Saini and Congress MLA Krishna Poonia in connection with the suicide of Rajgarh SHO Vishnu Dutt Bishnoi. Saini reached the CBI office in Jaipur to record his statement in the alleged suicide of the Rajasthan Police cop at 10 am.
Following this, the CBI is also likely to question Congress MLA and former Indian athlete Krishna Poonia again. It is alleged that the SHO was under pressure from Poonia's man.
The CBI summons to CM Gehlot's OSD and Congress MLA has come at a time when the state is witnessing a major political crisis. Former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot has rebelled against his boss Ashok Gehlot and he is threatening to bring down the Congress government.
Earlier, the Income Tax Department has conducted raids on several locations belonging to Rajasthan Congress leaders Rajiv Arora and Dharmendra Rathore. According to news agency ANI, the Income Tax raids were conducted in three states - Rajasthan, Delhi and Maharashtra.
Reacting to the I-T raids, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala had said that "BJP's lawyers" have arrived and asked when will the Enforcement Directorate come. "After all, BJP's lawyers came on the field. The Income Tax Department started raid in Jaipur. When will ED arrive?" Surjewala, who is in Jaipur to resolve the crisis, said.
