Today, we will focus on the power tussle in Maharashtra. Amid the ongoing discussions with Shiv Sena over government formation in Maharashtra, NCP chief Sharad Pawar will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today afternoon in Parliament. In the meet, the two leaders are expected to discuss the ongoing farmer's issue in Maharashtra following the heavy rains. 

As today marks the third day of the Winter session of Parliament, we will also focus on the debates and discussions taking place between the legislators. The opposition has raised issues pertaining to the detention of Kashmiri leaders, demanding their release and issues related to the economic slowdown, unemployment. Also, the Congress lawmakers are demanding a reply from Amit Shah and PM Modi about the withdrawal of SPG cover from the Gandhi family.

1:50 pm: MHA on the visit of EU delegation to Kashmir | J&K govt has reported that a group of 27 Members of European Parliament (MEPs), paid a private visit to India from 28th Oct 2019 to 1st Nov 2019 at the invitation of International Institute for Nonaligned Studies, a Delhi based think tank. Meetings were facilitated for them, as done previously on familiarization visits for visiting Members of Parliament of different countries. MEPs had expressed that they would like to visit Kashmir to understand how terrorism is affecting&has been a challenge for India. They got a sense of threat of terrorism&how it poses a threat to India, especially in J&K. Such exchanges promote deeper people to people contact&ultimately feeds into the larger relationship which any 2 countries would like to develop.

1:35 pm: MHA in Rajya Sabha | Citizenship (Amendment) Bill was introduced in Lok Sabha in 2016&was referred to a joint committee of Parliament. The committee presented its report to Parliament on 7.1.2019. Citizenship (Amendment) Bill,2019 was considered & passed in Lok Sabha on 8.1.2019. It was pending for consideration of Rajya Sabha. Consequent to the dissolution of 16th Lok Sabha the Bill has lapsed.

1:03 pm: HM Amit Shah | The process of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will be carried out across the country. No one, irrespective of religion should be worried, it is just a process to get everyone under the NRC.

1:00 pm: HM Amit Shah | NRC has no such provision which says that no other religion will be taken under NRC. All citizens of India irrespective of religion will figure in the NRC list. The NRC is different from Citizenship Amendment Bill.

12:59 pm: HM Amit Shah | Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain, Christian, Parsi refugees should get citizenship, that is why the Citizenship Amendment Bill is needed so that these refugees who are being discriminated on basis of religion in Pakistan, Bangladesh or Afghanistan, get Indian citizenship.

12:57 pm: HM Amit Shah | On the matter of the names excluded from the final draft of the NRC in Assam, he said, "People whose names are not in the NRC have the right to approach the tribunal...Assam govt is also ready to foot the expenses of people who can't afford a legal counsel."

12:56 pm: HM Amit Shah | "The NRC exercise was monitored by the SC...No religion has been targeted or isolated during the NRC exercise," he says.The home minister adds that the government will provide asylum to people of all religions. 

12:55 pm: After discussions on Kashmir, the debate has now moved to the NRC exercise. 

12:50 pm: HM Amit Shah | After August 5 (abrogation of article 370 in J&K), not even a single person has died in police firing. People in this house were predicting bloodshed but I am happy to inform that no one has died in police firing. Incidents of stone-pelting have declined. 

12:40 pm: HM Amit Shah | All Urdu/English newspapers and TV channels are functioning, banking services are fully functional as well. All Govt offices and all Courts are open. Block development council elections were held, 98.3% polling was recorded.

This confirms there is no problem in medical facilities there. Curbs were imposed under Section 144 stand withdrawn from all 195 police stations. Stone pelting incidents down from to 544 so far this year from 802 last year. All 20,411 schools opened. 99.48% of Class XI students have taken exams, as have 99.7% of Class X and XII students.

12:30 pm: Shah refutes all points made by Azad and says that the safety of the people is the government's priority and said, "I agree that internet services are a necessity today...but when it comes to the question of national security, the safety of the people of J&K and our fight against terror...we need to prioritize our necessities," he says.

12:27 pm: On internet services, Ghulam Nabi Azad said "There has been a threat from Pakistan for several years, there is nothing new about the situation. Then why such draconian measures? How will students continue their education without integral internet services?"

"Schools and colleges have been opened, but there is negligible attendance. There is no provision to ensure that students are able to commute from school to their homes safely," he says.
