1:00 pm: Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, in Delhi | A study has been ordered under the Air Force Vice Chief, on the Air Defence Command, which will be helpful in avoiding fratricides and timely implementation of orders in case of aerial attacks.
The Military theatre commands are planned to be rolled out by the year 2022. The shape of different theatre commands would be clear after the studies to be ordered in this regard are completed.
Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat: We may have a separate Jammu and Kashmir theatre but the shape would be finalised later. We are also working on separate joint commands for logistics and training.

12:03 pm: Last week, Supreme Court had observed that only 7 states/UTs have filed affidavits on food security and community kitchens - Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Karnataka, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Nagaland and Jammu & Kashmir. The court will hear hear the plea next on April 8.

10:57 am: Centre's appeal challenging the Delhi High Court's ruling in 2010, for granting permanent commission to women officers in Army: Supreme Court says that the permanent commission will apply to all women officers in the Army in service, irrespective of their years of service.
10:56 am: SC says that the contentions of centre, regarding the issue of physiological limitations & social norms to deny an opportunity to women officers is disturbing & can't be accepted. Also says - Centre, by not giving permanent commission to women officers, had prejudiced the case.
