Patna | Jagran News Desk: The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government on Sunday extended the coronavirus lockdown in the state till June 30, day after the Centre issued guidelines for the phase-wise uplifetment of lockdown.

In its order, the state government said that it has decided to implement the Ministry of Home Affairs's order and its guidelines after a board discussion.

“Ministry of Home Affairs, Central Government has issued guidelines to check the spread of the coronavirus and extended the lockdown till 30.06.2020. After discussions, the state government has decided to implement the Home Ministry's order and its guidelines,” it said, as reported by NDTV.

However, it did not reveal the details on how the state will implement the plan.

The Centre on Saturday evening said 'Unlock-1' will be initiated in the country from June 8 under which the nationwide lockdown effectuated on March 25 will be relaxed to a great extent, including opening of shopping malls, restaurants and religious places, even as strict restrictions will remain in place till June 30 in the country's worst-hit areas.

While announcing the extension of the lockdown in containment zones across the country, the Union Home Ministry said temples, mosques, churches and other religious places and shopping malls will be allowed to open in a phased manner from June 8 while a decision on opening of schools and colleges will be taken in July in consultation with the states.

Meanwhile, Bihar Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Amir Subhani had also said that the state government will follow the guidelines issued by the Centre.

“It is mentioned in the guidelines that religious places, malls, hotels, restaurants and hospitality services would resume from June 8. For relaxation of these services outside the containment, the state will follow the standard operating procedure (SOP), which would be issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,” Subhani was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

According to the latest information available at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the deadly coronavirus has affected over 3,600 and claimed the lives of 20 people in Bihar while more than 1,600 have been cured and discharged from hospitals.
