New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: An Army jawan was killed while two army personnel sustained injuries in an Improvised explosive device (IED) blast that took place in Akhnoor sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, reported PTI. The blast happened when the troops were moving around, patrolling the Pallanwalla area in an Army truck, the report added. All the injured have been taken to a military hospital in Udhampur.

As per the report, the officials have said that the whole area has been cordoned off.

"A soldier was killed and two more were injured in a suspected IED blast near the Line of Control in Akhnoor sector here on Sunday," a defence spokesperson was quoted as saying by PTI.

"The explosion took place when an Army team was on routine patrolling duty in the Pallanwalla area," he added.

The deceased soldier has been identified as Havaldar Santosh Kumar, a resident of Pura Bhadauria village in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, the official said. The injured were rushed to the hospital, he said.

As per officials, the blast took place near the border fencing area in the Indian territory.

It is believed that the IED was planted across the border and detonated during the movement of Army personnel towards a forward post, they said. One of the injured is in serious condition, it added.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has yet again violated ceasefire at LoC in Naushera sector, Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistani forces initiate unprovoked firing and shelling on Sunday and also targeted the civilian areas. The Indian Army has retaliated to Pakistan's ceasefire provocation.

In the ensuing exchange of fire, Sepoy Rahul Bhairu Sulagekar sustained gunshot wounds and was evacuated to the nearest medical aid centre, where he succumbed to injuries. Sulagekar, 21, hailed from Uchagaon village in Belgavi district of Karnataka. He is survived by his mother.
