The tweet post came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the nation.
In her earlier tweet, she had said, "A special economic package is being announced- for an Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan with nearly 10% of a GDP (approx Rs 20 lakh) getting committed. MSMEs and the honest middle class help build a #selfreliant India, says @PMOIndia @narendramodi."
The Finance Minister Sitharaman took forward the views expressed by Prime Minister in the nation's address. PM Modi on Tuesday announced a Rs 20 lakh crore financial package (10 per cent of India's GDP) aimed at poor, farmers and middle-class taxpayers of the country. The details of the package will be unveiled by the Finance Minister on Wednesday.
PM Modi asked the country to be self-reliant and asked people to ensure that lives do not revolve around the pandemic like it has been for last few weeks. He said that the country's economy needs transformation.
“India’s self-reliance will be based on five pillars - economy, infrastructure, technology-driven system, vibrant demography and demand,” Prime Minister said as quoted by PTI.
In March, Finance Minister had announced a stimulus package of Rs 1.7 lakh crore for poor and vulnerable sections of the society after PM Modi had announced the nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
