New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: India registered another record spike of 29,429 new infections during the last 24 hours taking the country’s total COVID-19 caseload to 9,36,181. The death toll also crossed the 24,000-mark and reached 24,309 after record 582 new fatalities were reported from across the country in the same span of time.

Of the total, 9,36,181 cases, 3,19,840 active cases are active cases while 5,92,032 people have been cured and discharged from the hospitals across the country. Meanwhile, the ICMR said that it has tested 1,24,12,664 samples COVID-19 till 14th July, of these 3,20,161 samples were tested yesterday. 

Among the Indian states, Maharashtra remains to be the worst-hit state. Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally jumped to 2,67,665 on Tuesday with the addition of 6,741 fresh cases while 213 more patients succumbed to the infection, including 70 in Mumbai, taking the state's fatality count to 10,695. A total of 4,500 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, taking the number of recovered cases to 1,49,007. 

Tamil Nadu continued to report over 4,000 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday but significantly, the capital city's downward trend continued, while the state saw 67 related fatalities. With the addition of 4,526 new cases, the cumulative tally stood at 1,47,324. However, recoveries outnumbered new infections as 4,743 people walked out of various health care facilities after successful treatment. As many as 67 deaths pushed the toll to 2,099, with Chennai accounting for 1,295 deaths till date.

Delhi recorded 1,606 fresh coronavirus cases on Tuesday, taking the tally in the city to over 1.15 lakh, while the death toll from the disease mounted to 3,446, authorities said. Thirty-five fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the Delhi health department bulletin. This is the fourth consecutive day when fresh cases have been reported in the range of 1,000-2,000.
