10,667 new cases and 380 fatalities reported in last 24 hours; India's tally rises to 3.43 lakh, death toll at 9,900
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The number of coronavirus cases in India reached to 3,43,091 after the country reported a rise of 10,667 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. As per the Health Ministry, 380 fatalities were reported in last 24 hours, taking the dealth in the country to 9,900.
The active number of coronavirus cases in India stands at 1,53,178 while the recovery rate has improved to 52.46 per cent as 1,80,013 people have been cured and disharged from hospitals.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state in India with 1.10 lakh coronavirus cases and over 4,100 deaths while Tamil Nadu is second on the list with more than 46,500 COVID-19 cases and 479 fatalities. Delhi has reported over 42,000 cases and 1,400 fatalities while Gujarat has reported over 24,000 coronavirus cases and over 1,500 deaths.

India is now the fourth worst-hit country in the world by the dreadful coronavirus after the US, Brazil and Russia. While the US has reported more than 20 lakh confirmed cases so far, the tally for Brazil is over 8 lakh and for Russia more than 5 lakh.
Looking at the situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold talks with all the chief ministers of the states and representatives of the union territories (UTs) to dicuss the coronavirus pandemic in the country. This would be the prime minister's sixth round of consultation with the chief ministers, the last being on May 11.
According to reports, PM Modi will likely discuss about the coronavirus crisis in the country and how to control the spread of the deadly virus as a phased lockdown exit continues across the country.
