Zaira Wasim quits Bollywood, here’s how the Twitterati reacted
New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Dangal Girl Zaira Wasim on Sunday announced that she has decided to quit Bollywood as her ‘relationship with her religion was threatened.’
In a detailed post on her Facebook page, which she later shared across all social media platforms she said: "though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here".
Her decision shocked the world and people reacted differently to this on social media.
This is how the Twitterati reacted to this:
#ZairaWasim ‘s decision to dissociate with film industry (‘because it interferes with her faith’) should be understood and respected as much as Nusrat Jahan’s Sindoor-Bindi.— Arfa Khanum Sherwani (@khanumarfa) June 30, 2019
That did not make Nusrat immoral as this does not make Zaira more moral.
*Freedom to choose is supreme*
Just read #ZairaWasim is quitting acting becz it interfered with her religion? All for supporting a personal choice, but if your religion is making you quit something you r so talented at, either there's a problem in ur religion or YOUR UNDERSTANDING of ur religion.Dissapointing!!— PratsD (@pratsd) June 30, 2019
Zaira Wasim was wonderful in Dangal. She was awesome in ‘Secret Superstar.’ She clearly enjoyed every bit of acting and stardom. Hope you are not quitting under any pressure @ZairaWasimmm. You are made for films. I would urge you to reconsider your decision #ZairaWasim— Manak Gupta (@manakgupta) June 30, 2019
Wasim said the journey has been "exhausting, to battle my soul for so long" and life was too short yet too long to be at war with oneself.
About announcing the decision on social media, the actor said she was openly doing so not to paint a holier picture of herself, but "this is the least I can do to start afresh".
