New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Manoj Bajpayee put a full stop to all the speculations doing rounds on the internet and even claimed by an entertainment website, that he'll be playing gangster Vikas Dubey on screen.

Vikas Dubey was shot dead, early on Friday morning, after he allegedly tried to escape from police custody while the police was bringing him to Kanpur from Madhya Pradesh’ Ujjain, where the notorious gangster was arrested on Thursday.

Producer Sandiip Kapur took to Twitter to hint at a film about Dubey starring Manoj Bajpayee as Vikas Dubey.

Rubbishing the news, Manoj Bajpayee took to Twitter and wrote, "Wrong news," alongside the link which claimed that the actor was roped in to play Vikas Dubey.

The report had quoted Manoj Bajpayee stating, “The script and character should be nice, only then it is fun to portray a real-life character on-screen. The man that we’re talking about here has lived a dramatic life and it will be very interesting to bring his story to the big screen. Let’s see what happens.”

Producer Sandiip Kapur had earlier in the day confirmed the news to Indian Express that they were planning a film on the gangster's life. He, as quoted by Indian Express said, “We are in the planning phase right now. We are in talks with Manoj Bajpayee, but we haven’t signed papers. He has asked us to work on the film’s script. As you know, he only takes up a project if he is convinced with the script, the story and the character he has to portray. So once we have fixed everything, we will approach him and would want him to be a part of this film.”

However, Manoj Bajpayee has denied playing the role of gangster Vikas Dubey. Sandiip and Manoj had recently collaborated on the film Bhonsle. The film that dropped on an OTT platform received critical acclaim.

Manoj Bajpayee is considered to be one the best know actors in the Indian cinema. Some of his critically acclaimed films include Gangs of Wasseypur, Satya, Shool, Rajneeti and Satyagraha. The actor has been awarded Padma Shri , and is also two-time National Award winner.
