New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Ramayana star Deepika Chikhlia Topiwala who immortalised the character of Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana in the late 1980s, took a dive deep in the memory waters on Friday, and reminisced the hard to forget and easy to chuckle-on worthy memories straight from the sets of the cult-classic television adaptation of Hindu Epic Ramayana, which has struck the chords with millions ever since its first episode was aired.

The 55-year-old actress, who in 1991 also won Lok Sabha election from Vadodara on a BJP ticket, shared two pictures of herself dressed as Sita, along with Arun Govil as Ram and Sunil Lahri as Lakshman, from the sets of Ramayana, and then narrated the memory associated with the picture.

"There is a story behind this scene, so, I shared. We were busy with the shoot, learning lines and so on. The day was as normal as could be," Deepika wrote while adding that, “after the scene got over our cameraman Ajit naik (cinematography) came to tell us please vacate the place and don’t stand underneath the tree and we were wondering all the three actors as to what was the hurry and why so abrupt.”

Deepika further wrote that cameraman Ajit Naik told all the technicians to present there to clear off the field, which made the director Ramanand Sagar to make sense of the situation by wondering as what was happening.

“He (Cameraman Ajit Naik) asked all the technicians also to clear the field ..sagar Saab was also wondering what happened ...and then he pointed out to a huge fat snake on the tree and what followed after that was we all RAN for our life,” Deepika added.

“sooo many memories,” Deepika wrote in reminiscence, under the hashtag: #memories.

Amid the nationwide lockdown to control the spread of novel coronavirus, Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana started being telecasted on the state-run Doordarshan in March, which renewed the nostalgia of Indians with the popular Epic adaptation and made it world’s most-watched television show in the month of April.
