New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: With the world still trying to find a possible cure for the deadly coronavirus, people across the globe are preferring to stay inside as it is a better option than getting infected by the virus. Considering the seriousness of the issue, Indian cinema has finally decided to switch over the stage, as most of the people are binge-watching on digital platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix. A couple of big-budget projects of Bollywood are also lined up for their digital premiere.

After the release of Shoojit Sircar's 'Gulabo-Sitabo' that stars Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana, Amazon Prime is ready for the screening of another Big-ticket show -- Vidya Balan's Shakuntala Devi.

The movie is based on Maths wizard and the human-computer Shakuntala Devi. In the movie, Vidya Balan will be seen sharing screens with Dangal actress Sanya Malhotra who will be seen playing the role of Balan's daughter.

Informing about the release, Vidya Balan on Twitter wrote, "Delighted to announce that you will get to see #ShakuntalaDevi very soon on @PrimeVideoIN with all your loved ones. Thrilled that we will be able to entertain you in these unprecedented times. #WorldPremiereOnPrime #ShakuntalaDeviOnPrime (sic)."

The movie is directed by Anu Menon, a graduate from the London film school. In an official statement, Anu described the subject of the movie and spoke about the lady-mathematician and her passion for mathematics.

“Shakuntala Devi’s passion for maths and her determination to spread its joy to the world was unparalleled. She lived ahead of her times and on her terms - and as we all strive to change the narrative of the female protagonist on-screen, her story is one that calls out to be told. And there’s no one better than Vidya Balan to capture Shakuntala’s wit and wisdom,” the director said while talking about his upcoming movie.

“I’m so excited that the film will have its world premiere on Amazon Prime Video and everyone will get to experience Shakuntala’s incredible journey and Vidya’s magical portrayal of her soon,” he added.
