Mumbai | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput on Sunday allegedly committed suicide at his Bandra residence in Mumbai, said the police. According to the police, the body of the 34-year-old actor was found hanging at residence in Bandra. 

The police said that the actor was suffering from depression from last the six months while adding that the house help informed about the incident. According to media reports, he was seen with his friends last night.

The police, however, said that no suicide note has been recovered from Rajput's residence while adding that an investigation is underway.

"Actor Sushant Singh Rajput has died apparently due to hanging but police can tell the exact cause of his death only after receiving post mortem report. So far, we have not found any suspicious object," Abhishek Trimukhe, DCP Zone 9, Mumbai was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

His death comes just six days after his former manager Disha Salian, 28, allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a building in Mumbai. According to a Hindustan Times report, Disha was suffering from depression for the last few days. 

"It's such devastating news. My deepest condolences to Disha's family and friends. May your soul rest in peace," Sushant Singh Rajput had said after Disha's death.

Several actors and stars expressed surprised over his death. "Wtf .. this is not true," tweeted famous director Anurag Kashyap. Actress Gauhar Khan also expressed death and said, "Wtf ????? What is happening".

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar also expressed grief and said that this incident has left him "shocked and speechless". "Honestly this news has left me shocked and speechless...I remember watching Sushant Singh Rajput in Chhichhore and telling my friend Sajid, its producer how much I’d enjoyed the film and wish I’d been a part of it. Such a talented actor...may God give strength to his family," he tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over Sushant's death and said that he his "rise in the world of entertainment inspired many". "Sushant Singh Rajput...a bright young actor gone too soon. He excelled on TV and in films. His rise in the world of entertainment inspired many and he leaves behind several memorable performances. Shocked by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and fans. Om Shanti," PM Modi tweeted.

Union Minister Smriti Irani also tweeted about Sushant's suicident and said, "I have no words , no understanding of why you left the way you did. From a bright young kid who came to Balaji to a star who made the Nation swoon.. you had come a long way and had many more miles to go. You will be missed Sushant Singh Rajput gone too soon".

Sushant had came to limelight role in the television show 'Pavitra Rishta'. Following his success, he made his Bollywood debut in Kai Po Che in 2013 where he worked with Parineeti Chopra. The late actor had also played the lead role in biopic of former Indian skipper MS Dhoni in MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. After his success in the MS Dhoni biopic, he was considered as the next big star in the Bollywood. 

Sushant was last seen Chhichhore along with Shraddha Kapoor. The movie, which was directed by Nitesh Tiwari, depicted the story of the college life of students in India.
