New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: The Dhadkan actress, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, recently opened up about her past experiences with miscarriages and adoption. The actress became a mother to her second baby, Samisha, through surrogacy, this year.

Shilpa in an interview with Pink Villa said that she desperately wanted to have a second baby as her son Viaan, was growing old alone, without a sibling. The 44- year-old actress said that she had suffered through several miscarriages, and her body was not allowing her to nurture a second baby.

She said, "After Viaan, I did want to have another child for the longest time. But I suffered from an autoimmune disease called APLA and that came into play every time I get pregnant. So I had a couple of miscarriages so it was a genuine issue."

Adding to it Shilpa explained that it is important for a child to have a sibling at home and this was the concern that kept her going with the idea to have a second baby, she said, "I didn't want Viaan to grow up as a single child, because I'm also one of two and I know how important it is to have a sibling. Coming from that thought, I did explore other ideas as well but they didn't pan out well."

Raj Kundra and Shilpa had also considered adoption as an option, but that too didn't work well, Shilpa told Pink Villa, "At that time when I wanted to adopt, I had put in my name and everything was underway but then, the Christian missionary shut down because they had a tiff with CARA."

After giving up on adoption, surrogacy seemed the last day of hope, "I waited for nearly four years and then, I was so irritated and we decided to try the surrogacy route. We had Samisha after three attempts. I had honestly given up on the thought of another child," said Shilpa Shetty.

The actress had posted a picture on Instagram on the occasion of mother's day, sharing words of love for her children Viaan and Samisha.

"Deciding to have a child - it is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. - Elizabeth Stone. To the two halves of my heart Viaan and Samisha: You both complete me. I love you. Happy Mother's Day... to me and all those amazing mothers out there," she wrote for the caption.
