Sonakshi Sinha shares her look as Sunderben Jetha Madharparya from ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’
New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Sonakshi Sinha on Friday shared the first look of her character in Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’, a film based on the formidable heroism of Indian Air Force Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who guided 299 native women of Gujarat’s Bhuj district to reconstruct a destructed IAF airstrip at Bhuj airbase, during 1971’s Bangladesh liberation war.
The 299 women, were in-turn led to the war glory by Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, a native social worker from Bhuj, who together with all her counterparts contributed in securing the integrity and sovereignty of the country.
Sharing the poster of the film, Sonakshi, through her Instagram handle, @aslisona, wrote: "Honoured to play the heroic role of Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, the brave social worker who took 299 women along with her to support the Indian Army! Bhuj: The Pride Of India, a crucial incident from history, will unveil soon with Disney+Hotstar,"

The role of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik has been played by none other than Ajay Devgn. The film, directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, was scheduled for a theatrical release on 14th August this year, on Independence Day weekend. However, due to Coronavirus pandemic, the film will now skip the theatrical release, and will instead be released on Disney-Hotstar.
Earlier, speaking about his film during its early production phase last year, Ajay Devgn who will sport the role of glorious Indian Air Force Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik too to Twitter and said: 1971. ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ also features Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi in important roles. Its release date hasn’t been confirmed by the makers as yet.
