New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Known for her spot-on reactions to trolls on social media, Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha on Saturday deactivated her Twitter account, saying that she took the decision to protect her peace of mind.

Sonakshi made the announcement in an Instagram post. She has also disabled the comments section of her Instagram account.

"The first step to protecting your sanity is to stay away from negativity. And no where more of that than twitter these days! Chalo, I'm off - deactivating my account. Bye guys, peace out," Sonakshi posted alongside a gif featuring actor-filmmaker Amy Poehler.

Aag lage basti mein... mein masti mein! Bye Twitter 👋🏼

A post shared by Sonakshi Sinha (@aslisona) onJun 20, 2020 at 4:04am PDT

The Instagram post came along with the caption in Hindi: "Aag lage basti mein... mein masti mein! Bye Twitter."

Sonakshi has been on the target of social media trolls, specially after she failed to answer a question on Ramayana when she appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati last year. However, the Dabangg actress has shut down trolls with her spot-on replies.

In an interview to Hindustan Times last month, Sonakshi referred to her Ramayana gaffe, saying: "Since then, it has been five to six months, and it's disheartening that people still troll me over one honest mistake."

Early this week, filmmaker Shashank Khaitan also quit Twitter and called it a breeding ground for hate and negativity.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Karan Johar, who has been trolled for working primarily with star kids, in the wake of Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely demise, has unfollowed most of the industry people on Twitter.
