Shahid Kapoor comes forward to financially help 40 background dancers facing COVID crisis
New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: As the country continues to grapple with the Coronavirus pandemic, the entertainment industry remains hardest-hit as the financial capital continues to be a COVID hotspot.
Amid these tough times, Shahid Kapoor has come out as a saviour for over 40 background dancers with whom the actor had worked in movies like ‘Ishq Vishq’ (2003) and ‘Phata Poster Nikla Hero’(2013) and ‘Shandaar’(2015).
The 39-year-old actor reportedly transferred the money to the bank accounts of dancers and has promised to help them for the next 2-3 months.
"Shahid Kapoor recently transferred money to the bank accounts of dancers he has worked. He has extended support to around 40 dancers and has stated that he will help them for the next 2-3 months. We shortlisted dancers from the days when he started his career with Ishq Vishk,” Raj Surani, a former Background dancer was quoted as saying by Times of India.
Before rising to fame, Shahid, part of famous choreographer Shiamak Davar’s dance group, himself also did a brief stint as a background dancer in Yash Chopra’s ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’ (1997) and Subhash Ghai’s ‘Taal’ (1999).
Shahid’s upcoming sports drama, ‘Jersey’, where he will reunite with his father Pankaj Kapur, for the first time after ‘Mausam’ (2011). On May 11, the ‘Jab We Met’ actor took to his Instagram account to share a still from the film and said that he was missing the set of his upcoming film ‘Jersey’.
“#Jersey sets. #imissyou,” Shahid wrote on Instagram captioning a picture in which, as the title suggests, the ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ actor sports a jersey with a stern sporty look with an eye glaring out of a Cricket helmet.
On personal front Shahid is currently in quarantine in Punjab with wife Mira Rajput Kapoor, daughter Misha and son Zain.
