Salman Khan begins food donation drive for theatre workers amid coronavirus pandemic
New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: After getting the praise for providing one lakh bottles of hand sanitisers for Mumbai Police, Bollywood actor Salman Khan has now started a food donation drive to help artists and technicians from the theatre community.
The Dabangg actor, who's still stationed at his farmhouse, has been actively participating in the relief work amid the coronavirus pandemic. The 54-year-old actor earlier donated 5,000 ‘Eid kits’ through his initiative Being Haangryy.
Recently, Yuva Sena leader Rahul N Kana from Maharashtra said in an interview that he reached out to Salman for help to feed the people during the pandemic, adding that the Bollywood superstar immediately agreed to it. Rahul N Kana is coordinating the drive on behalf of Salman along with Shiv Sena cooperator Amey Ghole.
"We started the initiative when we heard about the plight of the artists and technicians of Shri Shivaji Mandir Natyagruha. I reached out to Salman Bhai who immediately agreed to help us. Each ration kit contains five kilos of rice and wheat flour, vegetables, oil, salt, spices and tea powder. We reached out to 186 workers on the first day and hope to extend help to other theatre artists through them. We are practising safety measures while distributing the kits," he said, as reported by News 18.
