New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who starred in celebrated Bollywood movies such as "Bobby" and "Mera Naam Joker", died on Thursday after a two-year battle with leukemia, his brother Randhir Kapoor told the media.

Kapoor, 67, the scion of a famed industry family, is survived by his wife and two children, and had been diagnosed with cancer in 2018.

"He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents," the family said in a statement.

The actor had returned to India last September after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year. In February, he was hospitalised twice.

September 29, 2018

"Today, 30th July, is ten months here in NY," he said in a tweet.

Rishi Kapoor celebrated his 67th birthday in the US.

"Happy Balloons and flowers! Thank you people!" he tweeted.

Rishi returned to India after 11 months and 11 days.

"BACK HOME!!!!!! 11 Months 11days! Thank you all!" he wrote.

Rishi Kapoor admitted to hospital for treatment of an infection. He shared a couple of tweets:

"Dear family, friends, foes and followers. I have been overwhelmed by all your concern about my health.Thank you. I have been filming in Delhi past 18 days and because of the Pollution and my low count of neutrophils, I caught an infection whereby I had to be hospitalized. (1)....."

"I was running a slight fever and on investigation, Dr.s found a patch which could have lead to pneumonia,was detected and is being cured. People seem to have assumed a lot different. I put to rest all those stories and look forward to entertain and love you. Rishi Kapoor admitted to Reliance Hospital in Mumbai.

“He is suffering from cancer and he has some breathing problems, so he has been admitted to the hospital,” his brother Randhir Kapoor told the media.
