New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who was one of the greatest icon of the Bollywood, passed away on Thursday morning after two-year battle with cancer. The veteran actor was 67-year-old.

Kapoor, a third generation actor of the famous Kapoor dynasty, died at the Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai.

Kapoor’s death comes just a day after the untimely and sad demise of actor Irrfan Khan, who also lost the battle of his life to cancer. Soon after his death, a picture – that featured Rishi and Irrfan – went viral on social media.

The picture is from the movie, ‘D-Day’, in which the two legendary actors had worked together. The movie was directed by Nikkhil Advani in which Rishi played the role of a gangster based in Pakistan while Irrfan played the role of an undercover intelligence agent Wali Khan who successfully captures him and brings him to India.      

Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan’s death is a huge loss to the Bollywood. After Rishi’s death, his family said that for Rishi, his family and friends were always the focus and they requested his fans to obey the restrictions under the nationwide lockdown as public gatherings have been banned across the country.

"Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last," his family said in a statement.

"He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him," they added.
