Rishi Kapoor admitted to Mumbai hospital, brother Randhir says 'he is not well, Neetu by his side'
New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor has been admitted to Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. The news of him being unwell was confirmed by his brother Randhir Kapoor.
"He is hospitalised. Neetu is by his side. He is not well," Randhir was quoted by The Indian Express as saying. Randhir, in the meanwhile, also refuted rumours of his brother being kept on ventilator.
Meanwhile, when asked if there was an emergency, Randhir was quoted by News18 as saying: "Had there been one, I would also have been at the hospital. He will be alright. Neetu (Kapoor) is by his side."
Kapoor returned to India in September 2019 after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year. After his return, he had tweeted, "BACK HOME!!!!!! 11 Months 11days! Thank you all!"
Rishi was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and underwent marrow treatment in the US for over 11 months. For his treatment in New York, the actor was accompanied by his wife, yesteryear star Neetu Kapoor. His son Ranbir along with his rumoured girlfriend Alia Bhatt kept making regular visits to New York.
During their stay, the couple were visited by many Bollywood celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Anupam Kher and Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan among others.
While undergoing treatment for cancer, he even had to skip the funeral of his mother, Krishna Raj Kapoor in October 2018. The actor, who is a regular presence on Twitter, stayed in touch with his fans throughout his treatment and recovery. However, he has not done so after April 2.
Another media report also claimed that the Bobby actor was admitted to the hospital since four weeks.
On the work front, Rishi Kapoor was last seen in The Body alongside Emraan Hashmi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Vedhika. He recently announced his next project, a remake of Hollywood film "The Intern", in which he will feature alongside Deepika Padukone.
Rishi was hospitalised on a day the Bollywood industry suffered a major setback with the untimely demise of versatile actor Irrfan Khan, who passed away at the age of 53 after a two-year battle with a rare form of cancer.
The actor, who died at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, was buried at the Versova graveyard around 3 pm in the presence of his family and friends such as directors Tigmanshu Dhulia and Vishal Bhardwaj. The numbers were restricted in view of the nationwide lockdown.
The “Maqbool” actor lost his mother, 95-year-old Saeeda Begum, in Jaipur just four days ago and could not attend the funeral because of the lockdown.
