R Madhavan-Dia Mirza duo is all set for an 'age-appropriate' reprise in 'Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein' sequel
New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: The Maddy-Reena duo of Gautham Menon’s ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’(2001) is all set for an endearing reprise, according to multiple reports which have come out after sensing the entertainment industry’s creative stimulus for the possibility of a sequel of much-admired Lover pair, played on-screen by R. Madhavan and Dia Mirza.
According to a report in Filmfare, the makers were in the process of exploring a ‘natural progression to Maddy and Reena’s characters, and as of now film’s script is in the final stage of development.
“The makers toyed with some concepts, on and off, over the years. Only now have they found a script that has appealed to everyone and seems a natural progression to the lives of Maddy and Reena (the characters essayed by Madhavan and Mirza respectively). The script is in the final stage of development,” a source was quoted as saying by Filmfare.
On Wednesday, R Madhavan also reacted to the reports of him essaying Madhav Shastri’s character all over again.
“Just praying that someone somewhere has an age appropriate script for Dia and I,” Madhavan wrote on Twitter, while adding that if it’s not a script like that, then right now becoming Madhav Shastri is like making an elephant wear a half pant.

Earlier, Dia Mirza and R Madhavan in a Live chat show, had revealed the possibility of the sequel of ‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ to be at some stage of development. Dia said that she will look forward to a film that explains Maddy and Reena’s life post their union in the first part.
‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ was not a big Box Office hit at the time of its release in 2001, but it became a satellite hit soon after. The film had introduced Dia Mirza and R Madhavan in the Film industry, and also had Saif Ali Khan and Anupam Kher in key roles.
