New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Irrfan Khan, one of India's finest and most versatile actors, lost his battle with a rare form of cancer and died in a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday. He was 54. The sad news was shared by Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar on Twitter. 

The actor was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in 2018. The news of demise left everyone Bollywood personality in shock who took to Twitter to mourn the death of Bollywood's 'most versatile actor'.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan wrote, "T 3516 - .. just getting news of the passing of Irfaan Khan .. this is a most disturbing and sad news ..An incredible talent .. a gracious colleague .. a prolific contributor to the World of Cinema .. left us too soon .. creating a huge vacuum .. Prayers and dua"

Actress Kriti Kharbanda said she was shocked it was truly "heartbreaking and shocking".

"Truly heartbreaking and shocking. It’s hard to believe that irrfan sir is no more. An actor par excellence and a wonderful, passionate and incredible human being. U will be missed sir. #ripirrfankhan, " she wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Ajay Devgn said that he was heartbroken at the early demise of Irrfan Khan. 

"Heartbroken to hear about Irrfan’s untimely demise. It’s an irreparable loss for Indian cinema. Deepest condolences to his wife & sons. RIP Irrfan," he tweeted. 

Actress Anushka Sharma called him an "inspiration". 

"With a heavy heart I post this tweet. A phenomenal actor , such an inspiration his performances have been for me. He battled for his life but sadly leaves us today. RIP Irrfan Khan. OM Shanti," the actress tweeted. 

Actor Riteish Deshmukh said, "Our loss, heaven’s gain. #IrrfanKhan #RIP Thank you for all the magic you weaved on celluloid. Condolences to the family and loved ones."

Actor Tusshar Kapoor wrote, "RIP Irfan Khan sahab.....I’m sure your in a better place now...you and your work will live on forever!"

Apart from the above, Shabana Azmi, Kriti Sanon, Genelia Deshmukh, and other Bollywood celebrities also expressed their condolences at the loss of one of the most versatile actors of the modern era.
