New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Saturday took to social media to apologise after his popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati addressed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as 'Shivaji' without due honour. In Wednesday's episode, Amitabh questioned a contestant --Which of these rulers was contemporary of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb?
The four options were Maharaja Ranjit Singh, Rana Sangha, Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Shivaji. It sparked debate on Twitter and several users said it hurt their sentiments as the Maratha warrior was disrespected.

Retweeting a tweet of Siddharth Basu-- producer of KBC, Big B wrote, "No disrespect meant at all...apologies if it has hurt."
The former's test read, "No insult or disrespect whatsoever was intended to the memory of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a question on KBC 11. This season there have been a number of questions that have all used his name with the full title. Apologies for the inadvertent omission of title in the choice." 

Earlier on November 7, the channel Sony Entertainment that airs the game show had issued an apology via a Ticker.

The ongoing season (11) of KBC began its telecast on August 19. The show airs from Monday to Friday from 9 pm to 10.30 pm, while special episodes 'Karamveer'-- dedicated to jawans gets telecast on Friday till 11 pm. Amitabh Bachchan has been hosting the show for more than a decade.

On the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan on Thursday completed his fifty years in Bollywood. The star will be next seen in Gulabo Sitabo that will also feature Ayushmann Khurrana--set to release on February 28. He is also busy shooting for five other films including Brahmastra and Jhund.

Meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi on Saturday shared the release date of his upcoming mystery-thriller 'Chehre' on Instagram. The film featuring Amitabh Bachchan will be released on April 24, 2020.
