'It was an honest mistake': Sonakshi Sinha is 'disheartened' for being trolled over Ramayana gaffe
New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Ever since Doordarshan started with the telecast of 80's show, Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha's social media handles have been bombarded with trolls advising her to watch the series.
Last year, the actress appeared on the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, where she couldn't answer a simple question that was related to the Hindu Mythological tale of Ramayana. After this incident, Sonakshi was trolled heavily over the internet.
Though Sonakshi Sinha has always managed to deal with trolls and criticism like a boss lady, this time it seems that this has deeply bothered her. In a recent online interview with Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Sonakshi said," I participated with a contestant named Ruma Devi. A question was asked to us on Sanjeevani Booti, and for a moment, both Ruma and I went blank. Honestly, it was a bit embarrassing, since we have grown up reading and watching Ramayana. But it was long ago, and we all tend to have moments when we go blank. Since then, it has been five to six months, and it's disheartening that people still troll me over one honest mistake."
Sonakshi was not only targeted by the so-called 'trollers' but also by a few TV stars such as Mukesh Khanna, who has played the role of Bhishma Pitamah in Mahabharat advised the actress to watch Ramayana.
Reverting to Khanna’s remark, Sonakshi's father Shatrughan Sinha said," Who has appointed him the guardian of the Hindu religion?"
" I believe someone has a problem with Sonakshi not answering a question on the Ramayan. Firstly what qualifies this person to be an expert on all things to do with Ramayan?" said Sinha said in an interview with Bollywood Hungama.
Though criticism is a by-product of stardom, sometimes it becomes quite tough to let things go.
